Brick Wall Calculator Guide
This estimator converts wall face area into an approximate brick count using a selected brick profile and an optional cutting and waste allowance.
How the estimate works
Wall area is calculated from length × height. The selected profile supplies an approximate bricks-per-square-foot factor. The waste allowance is then applied and the result is rounded up to a whole brick.
Important assumptions
- Brick dimensions and mortar joints vary by region and manufacturer.
- Openings such as doors and windows should be subtracted from the wall area for a more precise order.
- Actual waste depends on cuts, breakage, bond pattern and site handling.
Frequently asked questions
Does this include mortar?
No. Use the mortar calculator separately when you need an estimate of joint mortar volume.
Should openings be removed?
Yes. For a more accurate order, subtract the area of doors, windows and other large openings before applying the brick factor.
Why is the result rounded up?
Bricks are normally purchased as whole units, and a small surplus is preferable to a shortage during installation.
