Concrete Block Wall Calculator Guide
This estimator converts block wall dimensions into approximate concrete masonry unit quantities and applies a selected waste allowance.
How the estimate works
Wall face area is multiplied by the selected block coverage factor. The allowance accounts for cuts, breakage and handling, then the result is rounded up to whole units.
Important assumptions
- Block sizes and nominal coverage differ by manufacturer and region.
- Subtract major openings for doors, windows and service penetrations when they materially affect the wall area.
- Use the actual manufacturer's block dimensions and coverage for a purchase order.

Does this calculate concrete fill?
No. Block quantity and structural/grout fill are separate calculations.
Why can block counts differ between suppliers?
Nominal dimensions, mortar joints and block profiles change the coverage per square foot.
How much waste should I allow?
A modest allowance is common, but the right value depends on wall geometry, openings and cutting requirements.
